Archive for the ‘Van Insurance’ Category

When it comes to purchasing commercial vans, many people have just a few things in mind: the overall purchase price of the van, the vehicle’s fuel efficiency (and thus cost to operate), and the cost of commercial van insurance as it applies to each model they’re investigating. Below are five the best commercial vans which satisfy each of those important requirements fully — and often exceedingly well.

1. GMC Savana 1500

The GMC Savana 1500 has several great things going for it: first and foremost, it’s relatively inexpensive in the world of commercial vans, meaning companies in pursuit of these models won’t have to resort to costly, high-interest financing alternatives in over to secure a fleet of these high-MPG commercial models. Their low cost of purchase is supplemented by the fact that they get among the best gas mileage in the industry: 14 miles per gallon in the city, and 17 miles per gallon on the highway. That’s more than double what some models offer, and it means a lifetime of savings during the van’s use. In addition, its status as a domestic American model means that commercial van insurance rates will be significantly lower than with overseas commercial van competitors.

2. Dodge Sprinter

The Dodge Sprinter is quite a bit smaller than the extra-large GMC Savana 1500, but that’s exactly what some companies need. And its small size still gives customers and business owners a good amount of storage space for hauling products down the highway. Largely on account of its smaller size, the Dodge Sprinter is able to offer 21 miles per gallon and pairs those high numbers with low insurance rates for business owners. That’s because the van is smaller, more affordable, and produced domestically — three things that are music to every insurance agent’s ears.

3. Ford Transit Connect

Another van in the “small commercial van” category is Ford’s compact Transit Connect model. It features 135 cubic feat of storage and hauling space, but weighs in at just 1,600 pounds. For a commercial van, that makes the Ford Transit Connect as light as a feather. And, because it’s produced by Ford’s highly reliable commercial vehicle unit, the Transit Connect is known to be dependable, long-lasting and relatively cheap to insure with commercial van insurance companies.

4. Ford Econoline E-150

The Ford Econoline E-150 would be rightly considered as the chief competitor to GMC’s Savana 1500 cargo van. This is a traditionally large and in charge commercial van model, and it gets 14 miles to the gallon on city streets. Highway driving will boost that number to 18 miles per gallon. Econoline models from Ford are available either with or without seating behind the driver and passenger seats at the front of the vehicle. That makes it perfectly flexible for use either as a cargo van or as a way to transport workers to and from a job site using company resources.

5. Nissan NV

Where the Nissan NV loses points on being a foreign model (and therefore quite a bit more expensive to insure), it gains points on being one of the most reliable models on the market and known for lasting well into the future. Its initial purchase price isn’t much higher than traditional domestic models, but its longevity means that the higher initial investment pays off in terms of reduced maintenance cost and a longer time between vehicle upgrades and enhancements.
