The company strategies are basically classified into general strategies and specific strategies:

General Strategies
General strategies are strategies that consider the company as a whole, ie, serve to achieve the overall objectives of the company.

Some examples of general strategies:

  • product diversification.
  • diversify markets.
  • compete on costs.
  • compete based on differentiation.
  • focus on a specific market segment.
  • merge with another company.

Strategies are actions carried out in order to achieve certain objectives, but having some difficulty in its formulation and implementation, ie, such actions at the time of delivery, require some analysis, which at the moment implementers, require some effort.

If, for example, talk about marketing strategies, we would be talking about market-related strategies and the company, carried out to achieve specific marketing objectives, and have some degree of difficulty in its formulation and implementation. Examples of marketing strategies could be to develop new products, lower prices, new points of sales, etc.

If, for example, we speak of human resource strategies, we would be talking about strategies relating to company staff, carried out to achieve certain objectives relating to human resources, and who have some difficulty in formulating and implementation. Examples of human resource strategies might be to hire new staff, the motivation to use new techniques, the use of new training program, etc.

The term strategy refers to the highest level of the company, so it tends to assume that strategies are decided only there, but in reality, they are taken at all levels of the company.
